Detector(s) used
Ace250 Pro-Kellyco
Hi all, took a year off dealing with family matters. Time to get back to diggin ! I have been using the Ace 250 for over four years. I am on a restricted budget and cannot afford to spend over $400 more or less. I was thinking about the Ace 350 but I think I'm ready for a better upgrade or a different type of detector in general. Mostly a coin shooter but really enjoy the relics more. I live in Florida(central) but have plenty of access to the beaches when desired. I enjoy digging in soil much more than sifting sand on endless beaches. I'm working on a tour of some old ghost towns around here and want to be prepared for as much as possible. If anyone has anything in common with myself please post your response, I'm curious what direction others have gone in after their beginning detector became less than desired. Also hit me up if your anywhere near Deland Florida for some group hunts. If I remember correctly there used to be a sub-forum for all the makes/models for detectors here but didn't notice it.

white's gt coin-master you wont go wrong for that price go to white's electronic page and check it out.

scrapdoggie,

click on forum, scroll down to the detecting section, the second item down in the detecting section is "Brands", click on it and there you are.

when you start searching the brands you will see some good comments about the machines and the coinmaster has some good reviews.

good luck with your quest..........63bkpkr

Thanks 63bkpkr, This is exactly what I was looking for. I'll be sure to post my experiences and of course my Sweet finds!

The coinmaster should be a good machine with just enough adjustability to make it a killer machine.......63bkpkr

I'm scratching my head. What made the 250 less than it was when you bought it? Ok, you've owned it 4 years. It's not like you "outgrew" it within a year. You're next step would be a PI machine for the salt beaches, I think. Endless beaches? Hunt around the hotels and resorts. The rings and things can EASILY pay for the machine! It's a throw-away world today (and that goes for detectors for some people too!). TTC

Don't get me wrong, I do love the Ace250 in soil still. It just doesn't work well at the beaches and I don't go with anybody in the hobby to be able to compare machines. I'll sort through the PI machines and look in that direction, Thanks for the advise...

you should check out the Tesoro Vaquero. It's a lot of machine for the price range your looking for. It's not a VID machine, but the tones, from what I hear, make up for it.

Just my 2cents

(No problem. I'm not trying to prove you wrong... just trying to show how smart I am. It's called an EGO TRIP! No offense meant.) Yes. The salt beaches are the domain of the PI machines. TTC

I owned the 250 and understand your desire to upgrade. Upgrading not only gives you a machine with more features, it also recharges your drive for detecting. We all need that shot in the arm once in awhile. That being said, everyone one of us only knows about the detectors we use, so that is what we will suggest. Make a list of of your requirements and compare it to the NAME BRAND detectors in your price range - Garrett, Minelab, White Tesoro, etc. IMHO the American made ones are the way to go. This will knock your selection down to 2 or 3. After that search this site for owner reviews of those 3 and you will narrow it down even further. Be aware that when detectors first come out they may have problems that are fixed in later versions of the same model. Then, if the one costs too mch ut it on layaway at a local shop, or PM New England Detectors for a good price.
