Tiny forest silver – 1843! 🔥

Absolutely buzzing with this one!

Pulled this tiny coin (~1.2 cm) from the forest — turned out to be an 1843 British Silver Three-Halfpence (1½ pence) 😮

Over 180 years old and still in great shape for its size… amazing how these small targets survive all that time.
The Manticore didn’t miss it 👌

Recovered with the Minelab Manticore + MI-6 pinpointer.

Small coin… big history!

Interesting find. Although there is some evidence that these coins circulated in Britain in small numbers, they were intended for colonial use, primarily in Ceylon (now Sri-Lanka) and the West Indies (Jamaica, British Guiana and Trinidad). The value was aligned to other locally-circulating coins: 1 fanam in Ceylon (also equivalent to Netherlands 4 stuivers); and ¼ of the Spanish real in the West Indies.

I have one of those that I someone gave me years ago. They are indeed very tiny. Smaller than a US half dime. Cool find!

In which country was it found?

Very cool coin! Congratulations!
