Again, they are debitage.

Look, if you look in ANY knappers waste pile you will see flakes that will resemble all kinds of things: birds, the moon, bigfoot riding a big wheel, etc. That does not mean that's what they were intended to be. With imagination, they can look like anything! It would benefit you greatly to just try knapping a few pieces, this would help you in being able to identify intentional flake scars and patterns.

matt lay off the peyote. Westerners !

I have also had archaeologists tell me that the nasty looking serrated points are most often associated with warfare. Kind of like how hollow point bullets are meaner..so are the points that look like a sharks tooth.

Most (not all) of the nasty looking serrated points that you will see are knife forms, not arrowheads per say. Saw form would be more indicitive of what they truely are but "saw" just doesn't sound very sexy. Nasty serrated points are often associated with archaic cultures that didn't "war" with each other. Fort Ancient style points maybe but I wouldn't call them nasty serrated compared to an archaic Pintree or LeCroy for example. Some archaeologists are full of themselves, especially in a non-academic environment.

sorry Rock but that last piece is just a flake also. you have to keep in mind that other flakes from other angles are removed in the process of knapping. somtimes a flake that is removed takes with it a couple angles from the previous strikes. It would help a whole lot if you watched someone knapp a few tools. sure you can pick one up and cut somthing thats just the nature of the material. you have a good spot there. you will find much better completed points and tools im sure.

Glad to see you made it back. But that last one is a Bladett made on purpose to be used as a knife from a flake. Paleo culture and Archaic used them. I see your flakes and they are not even close. I admit I am learning in some areas but I know what that last one is. Thanks for trying to help.
