Tips for a novice in the upstate sc area

Hi, i am absolutely brand new at this and have no experience panning but do alot of hiking and camping all throughout sc and nc any tips on how to know when ive found gold or what to look for in a possible panning site

Welcome! Best thing to do is lots of reading and look at videos on line showing the panning process. Definitely get some pans.

My advice would be go to a pay to play mine and learn how gold acts and what it looks like in a gold pan.
Take some material home and practice panning.
