After work today I hit the area they are clearing out for a new road. I'm really getting to know the whole crew there, and brought some of my display cases to show them my relics.
On about three occasions now I was able to dig a CW bullet right in front of them. They LOVED it!!
The Mexican workers got a kick out of me using a Tesoro machine, meaning "Treasure". ;D
We had a major rain here yesterday, so I was hoping it would help with the signals. I was not disappointed, as I dug some nice lead, including two carved bullets, a few cleaners, and a few 3-ringers.
The troops must have been a bit bored at this spot. :icon_scratch: We are finding numerous carved and beat up bullets.
No other CW relics today, but I'm still happy with the finds.
Thanks for looking,
MM

Nothing else but lead, you say? When it's that old, I wouldn't mind digging lead.
That's a nice collection of bullets you have there, Doug!!
Congrats,
CAPTN SE
Dan

Thanks Dan.
I wouldn't mind digging some silver like YOU do!

What a story those bullets could tell..WTG on finding such a productive spot Doug, hope there's more where that came from.

Nat

Thanks Nat.
I'll trade you 10 bullets for that cool spoon you found. :tongue3: That thing is awesome!

Doug Dude, we, here at Treasurenet, will never get sick of seeing the Doug Dude excavating all of those Civil War artifacts. :icon_sunny: You have been cleaning some house with all of those three-ringers.
With that lean, mean, metal datecting "Treasure" machine, you'll be excavating many more, my good buddy!
Now, get back out there and dig us a plate, eagle button, knapsack J-hook, and 50 dropped three-ringers!
Kyle

Thanks Kyle.
I'm hoping those woods are holding my old coins. Come on fall !!! I have LOTS of area to cover. Thank God for the mild winters here.
I marked the spot where all of these CW relics are popping up at this site so once the road is in, I'll know what section of woods to hit next to the road.
I need an LC and an 1800's silver before 08' ends.
Good luck this w/end.

When else were the bullets like that made. I mean what timeline?
LT

LT,
Hopefully one of our CW experts can answer that question. I'm still a rookie.

Lish ~ The only thing that would make me NOT want to see all the Righteous Lead you dig is if YOU DID IT IN YOUR FAVORITE DRESS ... :tongue3: :tongue3: :tongue3:

Dude you Rock ~ I would only hope for ONE & you dig lead like I dig pull tabs ...
Continue to Persevere ~ Nick

What if I shaved my legs Nick? :tongue3: :tard: :icon_queen:
Thanks Buddy. Now get your b-tt out there and find an LC at the depot.

Nice carved chess pieces there!

I'm sure there are some buttons in there for you--as well as perhaps a coin or two. That's more than just a waypoint--that's a camp.

Well done.

Thanks BB.
I am really surprised I haven't dug an 1800's button yet, since I've found close to 100 at two other spots right down the road. :icon_scratch:
Weird. I'm not giving up though.
That chess piece bullet made my day.
Good luck this weekend.

Thanks for the good luck wishes...but its in the 90s here all weekend and all week. It's been two weeks since our last hunt...and I'm hoping it won't be three. :-\

I hear ya. I roasted my butt off today. 90's & humid is not fun. Why is it there could be 100 clouds in the sky, but not one cloud blocks out the sun even for a brief moment when you are out MDing? :icon_scratch: :icon_sunny:
Looking forward to your next post.

Fantastic specimens !

Those bullets are pretty cool!! Sure beats the lead we find out here in California. :D

Yeah, I'm looking forward to my next post too LOL. Won't be this week. :'( High temps and concrete conditions.

Doug, you found pulled bullets at your other site, didn't you? That site was a "waypoint." (Although the troops probably rested briefly at the mansion.) There will be an area with good brass relics at your new spot, you can count on it. You just haven't found it yet.

Best Wishes,

BB

Thanks BB. No pulled bullets yet. I've seen some posted here on TN (Civil's I think :icon_scratch: ) and have always wanted to find one.
You can bet I'm be hitting that wooded area as soon as cold weather hits here. I'm hooked!!!
