I was detecting along a woods road/path of sorts near some old abandoned structures with my Garret Ace 250 that ive been using since 2013 when I got a solid silver dollar signal in the center of the path. Whenever I dig these signals in the past it always ends up being a big piece of iron or a can so I didn't think much of it. I dug a hole and the signal was still deeper and to the side a bit so I put the shovel on the side of the hole and pushed it down deep and popped the side of the hole out. Then I see the unmistakable sight of a silver dollar at the bottom of the hole. I really could not believe it. I picked it up and carefully wiped away some dirt and saw that it was an 1882 silver Morgan dollar and its not very worn either. I think I may have nicked it as there is a slightly shiny ding on the rim above the first u in Unum, but I suppose you can only be so careful when digging in the woods of New Jersey with the dirt so filled with rocks and roots. Anyway this is probably my best metal detecting find to date although I actually dug an 1877 silver trade dollar earlier this year only I didn't find that with a detector. Here are some photos of the prime coin that I will treasure for many, many years.

A nice big Morgan dollar. Could you tell me a little more about that trade dollar as those are pretty rare?

thanks, I dug it with a handrake in a spot where a building burnt a long time ago. Its somewhat damaged from the fire and has an 1893 Columbian half dollar stuck to the back. I wish those coins could talk
