Got out to the fields today since the weatherman got the forecast wrong again. Found a large cent but could not get a date from the front and only two pieces of lead. Any idea to the rectangle object? It was found within a foot of the harmonica read. The smaller circular tag is a more modern cow tag but it was very deep. Also anyone have a clue what the circular thing could be with the notches pictured above the fired 3 ringer. Thanks for looking and happy hunting.

Rectangular object = Buckle

Thats what I thought but I have been wrong before.

Good digs...I believe the circular item with notches is the top of an old umbrella...I found one right next to a eagle button...soldiers carried umbrellas too!!! Officers more likely.

Coastie and RH hit the nail on the head RR.....Nice dig's

Congrats on the CW relics RR.
Those LC's tend to avoid me. :dontknow:

Nice finds!! The minnie is a Williams Cleaner bullet with the stem and minus the zinc disk intended to clear the back powder fouling from the barrel. One of the the cleaner bullets was packaged with every 20 3 ring bullet rounds for Union Soldiers. Most were discarded because they reportedly made the rifle kick pretty bad. HH, Quindy.
