Today's Find From The Other Day

The people a few doors down moved out and so I headed down to talk to the owner who was remodeling the house about detecting the yard . He said not the yard but I was welcome to try the little parking strip. Breaking out the DeLeon, I started at one end and slowly moved to the other. Several pulltabs and can slaw later, I got another signal. It bounced around the meter and wouldn't lock on any particular number, just in a rough 18 point rangefrom 37 to 55. The following pics are a reinactment as I didn't have the camera with me that day.

Breaking out the knife and digging a 1/2 circle slit.

I lifted the slit to reveal something...

with a little shine to it..

Looks like a nice long chain.

Re: Today's Find From The Other Day

Thanks Nick! Tell him I have a bowl of pasta fazool waiting but to not be a garvon.(sp.)
 :tongue3:

Ty...Thanks! This one never ceases to amaze me, a lot of people would have thought since it was the same type of signal as the can slaw and tabs that it was just another one but 1) it wasn't quite as high as the other tabs, 2) it wasn't a bit scratchy like the slaw, 3) a lot of folks would also have thought that a hunk of silver over 3/4 oz. would have read up in the coin range.

TY, sorry but today was just one of those bronze days.. :(. Still have 54 or is it 53 days. Guess the bank loot is not where I thought.

Re: Today's Find From The Other Day

Nice find Stoney. You should have pressed him harder about the yard. If he said no again, you ARE a member of the Roudy Bunch. You should have hog tied em and detected it anyway. ;D

What discrimination do you usually start out at?

or do you use the thumb up method on the discrimination?

I have no "target or depth ID" and it is about the sound ain't it.....can slaw and silver chains sound very close....it's crazy.
I wonder what it would have ID'ed if you had up'd your discrimination to like nickel......

Re: Today's Find From The Other Day

Nah Gypsy. This one is gonna be mine. MG can go find her own.
ME, I may have to--seeing as how the house was previously owned by a little old lady that sold antiques out of her house.
Thanks Larry. Have to say I do love that shiney stuff.

jorge, Usually I start out wth the disc. set just above iron in yards and such. I think the knob got bumped down a bit trying to hold the camera and detector both but it would have sounded more weak with the disc up higher. Most pulltabs on this machine register 55-65. My 1st impression was it was a nickle. I've been known to thumb up the disc. a bit to see where it breaks but I didn't this time. I've had can slaw break at anywhere from 5 to 30 depending on size and orientation.

Re: Today's Find From The Other Day

Good to see your posts Stoney!

Those photos of the DeLeon sure brought back good memories. I was using one of those back a couple years ago.

I found a lot of goodies with the DeLeon.

I see the meter readings and this is why I run my Silver uMax on FOIL. Lots of great finds are within that nickel range.
