Today's Meager Civil War era haul...
It ain't pretty, but this Union Army General Service button is my FIRST CW era button dug in the "wild," (not planted at a club hunt.)
It is intact but I cannot read anything on the back yet. I also found the two ringer revolver bullet about 10 feet away. This bullet has a flat bottom and is 10mm or 3/8" in diameter. Any identification by experts would be greatly appreciated! I also found two fired .36 caliber pistol balls and an impact damaged old lead bullet to finish up the hunt.
Note: I learned something today about my ATPro. I have been over this ground several times before. Today, I turned the sensitivity all the way up and found these items, despite the fact that they all were only 3-4 inches below the surface. I guess the high mineral content of our Ozark soil is masking many goodies. I know I will burn through the batteries but it will be worth it! Happy Hunting, Sub
