Today's Meager Civil War era haul...

It ain't pretty, but this Union Army General Service button is my FIRST CW era button dug in the "wild," (not planted at a club hunt.) :hello2: It is intact but I cannot read anything on the back yet. I also found the two ringer revolver bullet about 10 feet away. This bullet has a flat bottom and is 10mm or 3/8" in diameter. Any identification by experts would be greatly appreciated! I also found two fired .36 caliber pistol balls and an impact damaged old lead bullet to finish up the hunt.

Note: I learned something today about my ATPro. I have been over this ground several times before. Today, I turned the sensitivity all the way up and found these items, despite the fact that they all were only 3-4 inches below the surface. I guess the high mineral content of our Ozark soil is masking many goodies. I know I will burn through the batteries but it will be worth it! Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

I have to deal with high mineral content with my AT-Pro also. One thing I've found that helps is to keep ground tuning every so often. It changes so much around here!

HH!

Nice saves!!!!

Well done SubT, where there are meager finds there are more finds, keep at it. Swing low and swing slow. I run with my sens up all the way most of the time but if the site is very cluttered with iron pieces I will notch it down by 2 or 3 and go over the area again. Sometimes the iron can drown out a good signal and with the sens up to max it makes it harder to pick out the good tunes. Run in Pro Zero too, it is the only way.

Congrats on the button and bullets. Great historic pieces.

BTW, I found another headless figurine. I have to clean it up and post. Hopefully this weekend.

Nice finds brother! Civil War finds up here are rare as hen's teeth! What kind of site was it?

Thanks Zodiac, I will take your advice and try that "Pro Zero," which I have never tried before. Here's hoping! Sub

We will see who your Ichabod Crane really is!

Erik, The area I have been hitting is about a two acre field with a 1830's-1920's main wagon road circling it, next to a creek and also a prehistoric Native American site, based on the stone points and tools that pop up occasionally there! The wagon road was a US mail route, Civil War highway, and later a freighters' route during the 1800's. It just keeps giving, albeit not without blood, sweat, and ticks. Sub

Great find! Congrats on the first one.

Don't tell anyone else the big secret: that there is a TON of CW finds in Missouri!
