Today's small road trip finds

Today I went to a small town about 20 miles away. Hit 4 banks and got about $110 in halves mostly rolls. I ended up finding 2 90% and 6 40%! So I'm loving these small town bank runs. I am totally hooked now! Word to the wise, don't rely on edges to determine if it's silver or not. Looked at a roll and it all looked copper. Actually went through the dates and found 2. So it is not always an indicator of silver. I even went back over the rolls that I only looked at the edges and sure enough found another silver half.

Yes I agree I look at all the dates. I also found 3 this last week end that you could not tell was silver. 1 was a 64 and the other two was 68's......Matt

Yes, I was quite surprised to go through them again and find another silver. I think Friday I will hit 3 more towns if I can get up early enough. It also helps that banks stay open later on Friday. I hope I can keep my streak up!

i do the 3-check rule...i look at the edges (if your experienced enough, you will never miss edge hunting...to this day i have never missed one, and i know it because of the following), i drop them accordion style and listen for that sweet *clank*, and then i date check. hope this helps! keep it up and hh!

to chainchomp, if you do the date check and look at each coin individually, why do you also check the edges and do the sound check? are you looking for like error, post-1970 minted on silver planchets? i've heard these are very rare but they do exist. if not for this reason, is there any reason to check edges if you're checking coins one by one anyway?
