Todays two beaches

This morning I took off to go to Sand Key. I got there much too early and the gates were not open so I drove on down to Indian Rocks Beach where there is an access to the beach. I hunted there first. I saw all kinds of chairs, towels and kids toys left on the beach but left them alone. I also detected a lot (and I mean A LOT) of burnt-out sparklers probably left from the 4th. I picked a lot of them up. I wouldn't want to step on one of those but no way did I get them all. I only spent about 45 minutes there waiting for the gates to open at Sand Key. I got 67 cents there.

Then I went on to Sand Key really anxious to hunt there. Hoping the Gulf would cooperate with me this morning. It didn't look too bad but alas it actually was a little rough for me. I barely made it up to my shin when a wave came in and darn near knocked me off my feet. I kept trying for awhile but I never did get any signals and it was just as well. I doubt very much if I could have dug it anyway with the way I was getting pushed around. It didn't LOOK bad but for me.... it was. So I ended back up on the beach. Never saw any other MD'ers this morning.

I found a big "thing" and my husband tells me that it is something from a wheel - a hub? I don't remember what he said but it was packed with heavy grease. I thought it was packed with sand and when I tried to clean it out is was yucky! This is three views of it.

This is the rest of my finds at Sand Key this morning.

And this is my money finds at Sand Key. I thought one of the coins was another quarter but when I got home and started cleaning stuff one of them turned out to be a James Madison dollar coin. ALLRIGHT!

My total clad for today was $3.09 No jewelry but that's ok - I'll take it!

Not a bad day I would say.

I don't know what the thing is called right now but it is where the barrings are packed on a trailer. If you look at a boat trailer for example they are screwed on on to the axle from the outside where the wheels connect. I'm trying to explain it but can't think of the correct words

Obviously the good stuff is just not there. If it were, you would have found it. OH, fishing hooks are the worse. Even with a magnet in my scoop, they still manage to fall through and drive me crazy. You'll get the goodies next time, I'll say a prayer to the Gold Gods for ya

Those are called "bearing buddies", they press on to the hub of a trailer and then you can use a grease gun to grease your bearings instead of pulling the hubs and doing it manually.

[size=13pt]Mumszie - Nice to see that you got out. I just haven't got out as much as I'd like to this year, but I've got to say that your detecting is similar to mine. I too find a lot of spent sparkler wires, especially on the beaches of New Hampshire and Maine.

I like the tops of the champagne bottles you found (3rd photo top wires). Too bad they wern't still attached to their original bottles, then you'd really have something to talk about.

I am glad you got out and that clad adds up. I found lots of sparkler wire the last time I was out as well. What I hate even more are needles. YUCK YUCK YUCK, but I gotta throw them away cause I do not want anyone especially kids stepping on those nasty infected things.

Obviously they won't stick to stainless so I have mine zip tied in there.

glad you got out Mumzie any day out is great.. we both are dealing with sparkler wires , the other day i found a crochet hook on the beach that was odd that was a first for me... hope you get some 14K soon in that scoop
