I finally got the itch to start detecting again after a nearly 4 year hiatus! I've spent some time in my yard the last 2 days where an old house that's around 100+ years old used to be. I've been getting a lot of junky signals so far. I've managed 3 decent finds so far. An old toy pistol, a 3.5"x16" sign that is double sided and reads "Maudie Hale." The limited research I've done I found a Maudie Hale from my town born in 1890 or 1891 and whose husband fought in WW1.
The last thing I'm not really sure what it is. I can make out "Cat No DLC61" and what looks like "Black USN." There are also some letters in the bottom left and right corners but I can't make them out yet. It was really crusty when I found it.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Edit: Looks like the what's it is a dead end clamp for a cable.

Cool stuff! The "Maudie Hale" plate may have been atop a mail box at one time, visible from both directions. Sub 8-)
