Not my typical find, but that's what makes this one fun. Something I enjoy about this hobby is learning the history associated with the finds. I did a bit of reading about the Tootsie Car co but couldn't find this model. Judging from similar cars, I would put this in the late 30's - early 40's?

I did a cleaning and wax job while I was home alone. Now my wife is asking me why I don't wash and wax our cars...

Very cool. For whatever reason I get really stoked about digging toy cars and stuff. Yours is a neat one.

DID THAT COME OVER ON THE MAYFLOWER? LOL thats different than your normal but really cool!

Cool car Scrappy, looks like it cleaned up nice. Probably has many knee miles on it.

Post war ... mid to late 40's or early 50's ... but not the 30's ... IMHO , Woodstock

Scrappy. Does yours actually say Tootsitoy? Do you have a size reference? Maybe a dollar bill?

Mine is close to yours, it doesn't say Tootsitoy inside. Just made in USA. I think mine is a Hubbly.

Hello Scrappy. Nice car and intact too. Too often I just find the pieces. Good Luck on the ID. C9

I don't wash or wax anything but what I find. Cool car, I love those tooties.

Definitely patterned after an American made convertible from the 1946-1950 era. The grill design doesn't match one exactly (copyright concerns?) Very cool find, congrats. Sub 8-)

Cool Tootsie Toy Steve. Here is how she looked in her earlier years.

Nice car! I love finding any kind of old toys.

Sweet recovery,,
Is that the original paint on it?
Most times, Tootsie would stick with only one color
per model car or truck. The color can be helpful in identifying the year and model. I have a few and I treat them gingerly. Nice job on the preservation.

That is a nice older model car in great shape. I like those Tootsie Toy cars.

Good show Scrappy! You know that I like the cars, especially old ones.

Your ID is: 1941 Chrysler Windsor convertible.

"Sedan" refers to a car with four doors.

US car makers stopped making cars in 1941, to concentrate on the war effort. They were melting toys in the 1940s, not making them. The vehicle was most likely produced shortly after WW2.

Nice Tootsie! Mine have markings underneath. Anything on yours? Nice pic. loco! Not quite sure why they picked that color back then (if it's original paint).

Nice old toy find, they are so cool to find!

Just wondering, do you prefer Simoniz or Mother's for your restorations:laughing7:

Hey, great info Tom! So I wasn't far off on the model year, but probably 5 years off on the production date. Maybe it was Smittyman's toy car?

When Smittyman was young, they played with Dinosaur eggs!
