Torrents and Treasures - TGP

Man i would kill to have gold like that in the creeks i work.
A lot of people flow through those parts of the river; no pun intended. The gold has to be Hunted in those areas of the NF American. :)!

Yesterday had more ups and downs that the world's greatest coaster.
Was planning on hiking pretty far upstream from Eileen/Mineral Bar to hit that hole from last week-buddy cancelled last minute, and couldnt get ahold of my other buddy-hit the mining store instead

Ended up getting an AT Pro, And the goldNsand hand dredge. My pump went out on the blue bowl, got another one..
I may have missed my chance to walk through the ancient waters of the American River this week..but I truely feel yesterday ended on a good note

Nice TGP!
I worked on setting my old keene up as a recirculatory in the garage yesterday, I used my blue bowl pump and my 1000gph swimming pool pump haha. I need to figure out how to make a crash box so the water comes out more evenly. I don't think I'm going to be able to blow pebbles through it, but it may just give me the piece of mind I need to throw some of these cons out into the yard after this winter... LoL

I use a car battery hooked up to a charger to run my blue bowl as well.

Niice! Ive been thinking of making my 52 a recirculating homesetup as well, and rematting my highbanker.
I got a new pump for my blue bowl.. Need to set it up

I have two 36 inch stream sluices. May be over kill. I made into a recirculating system. To process con"s I bring home from the Bozooka. In this set up I use. Two pieces of Gold hog scrubber mat. And the rest I use gold hog razorback matting. I think this system works super. Usually end up with a less than a cupfull. Of super cons I run. Thought a blue bowl.I mostly find very fine gold. And this system does the job. A lot of gold very hard to see. And i really think the hog mats help get the gold out of the black sands.

Getting back to the river tomorrow after a Long week of not hitting the water. The local is a toss up, however my new GoldnSand Dredge will be putting in Much work tomorrow! (leaving the MD at home this trip)
Photos will be taken this time, and hopefully from now on.

Heavy Pans to you All

I know little of dredging but it looks like it doable. I did learn recently that if you have a blue bowl hooked to a battery that is hooked to a battery charger it runs for a long time. Good Luck

I run my 12 volt stuff straight from the battery charger; it is lighter to move around than the battery! :)

Late notice:

Had two different parties cancel, last minute..

I will be headed to the river soon, this morning.. Anyone desire to meet up? Send a PM

Just got back from the first time visiting the south fork. What a day.

Got a few pickers, saw more poisonous plants than workable dirt the first half of my day.. Hiked 3 clicks in the incorrect direction (knowing now)
Hit hastings creek, followed it to the south fork, where the water was as still as a golf course pond. Hiked/swam the river downstream. Stopped at a few gravel bars, no flakes, no flour.

Kept traveling downstream, saw 4 people on horseback. Talked a bit, they left and I crevaced for the remaining time I had before the hike back out.

Without bringing a sluice, did okay.. Hope for better pans next week :)

"Got a few pickers" ...you say that so casually! I am soooo jealous as I sit here panning Colorado fly poop!

Well put Kevin, ever so casual:). Great job on the finds!

Thanks for the kind words :)

Was going to head back to the South Fork AR this morning, but after a long 2 flights yesterday, I was pooped when 6oclock came and went...

So, I made today the highbanker rebuild day. Got some undermatting and moss, cleaned up some extra v lyring around.. Got a Jobe 2.5 and new tubing all around..

Now all that is left is to fabricate an endgate. I want to fabricate it for under $15 total..which shouldnt be an issue..

Should i use expanded metal?
Im also thinking of only running moss 1/3 dirstance of the box, such as my A52..
Anything I missed on the rebuild other than goldhog throughout?

I heard that the South Fork in ASRA allows highbanking..is that correct...? Or blatently wrong..if anything the BLM and Sheriff are only a call away, just curious if anyone knew for a fact off hand..

Going next Wed 100%. Would love some company, pm if interested. Im game at Many locals.

Heavy Pans to you All.

Well, I fabbed the gate, for under $4

Called BLM about mining regulations regarding highbanking, BLM said yes.
Then called sheriff, who forwarded me to foresry, who forwarded me to CA Parks and Rec. CA Parks and Rec says absolutly No High Banking in the parks on the American River system; NF, MF or SF. She also said that shovels are not allowed to be used at all within the park.

Called BLM to verrify, who then verrified that '..if that is what they said, those are the regulations'

** Square one: get a claim

Be careful connecting to your charger directly, I have 2 chargers I have tried that with, one was just fine, but the other the actual output voltage would vary, causing the water pressure to change, which can cause gold colored material to blow out of your BB. Might be a good idea to get the bowl going off the charger and just meter the water level for 10 minutes if it stays at the same level, you are good!

Exactly the reason I do it off an old car battery and a wall charger. works like a champ (and the battery charger was cheaper than the wall converter).
