Tot Lot "Mini Hunts" And A Private Yard
Hi all,
Lately I haven't felt up to leaving the house for hours on end and wearing myself out in the heat like I had been doing for the last month or so. My "addiction" was beginning to get just a bit much, and when something you do for leisure suddenly becomes work, it becomes no longer fun. With that said, I wanted to go MDing for awhile, but not come home so exhausted.
I had this idea to go on a few "mini hunts" - just a quick check of the wood chips at a few schools I haven't been to for awhile, maybe spending 30 minutes per school until I have the energy to stay out longer (I do lawn service so I'm already half spent physically when I get the itch to hunt)! Anyway the strategy worked out great, I had fun and also felt better when I got home.
Since I've searched about every school in 2 surrounding districts since the year began (as well as every park and sports field) I was running out of fruitful places to search within a 10 mile radius of my house. I decided to start over again and "re-hunt" some of the ones I started with several months ago. I was pleasantly surprised to find these places "re-stocked" and was able to recover some items that had been recently lost.
3 quick hunts at 3 schools yielded $6.39 in clad (84 pennies, 11 nickels, 10 dimes, 16 1/2 quarters), 2 important looking keys, a pendant, a Nascar Speedpark token, 7 zipper pulls, a name plate that says "WHITE STAG", 2 toy cars, a nice pair of women's sunglasses (found on top of the grass), a mood ring (ring #27 for the year) and a nice earring stamped 925 DL CZ. The 925 stamp means it's silver, even though it has the color of gold. I'm not sure about the "DL". The "CZ" most likely means cubic zirconia (?)
I had my 11-year-old son with me when I found the 1/2 quarter. When I showed it to him, he told me to see if I could find the other half. I thought that was a good idea so I began to look..the very next signal was the earring.
The car above has a magnetic wheel inside. I gave the other car (a Hot Wheels model) to a kid who came over with his friend, who was watching us and asking questions about our finds.
I also found these 2 silver Rosies (1964-P and 1964-D) and 6 wheaties (1919-S, 1942-D, 1945-P, 1949-P, 1951-D and 1954-D) in a private yard on Friday.
