Well could not stand not using my new Whites MDT that I went out in the backyard in the dark. found a little new change and this little guy,I wonder if it is old or a way to date it?
Very nice jef231, Your soldiers are American-made by Manoil. Reference number M108 (or 81 in their catalog) Machine Gunner and Helper, circa 1935-1942. Congrats on a cool find. Sub
Hey Jeff B, your bottom half of a soldier appears to be what is left of a Barclay B-34 shown in their catalog as a 711, Drum Major, long stride, tin helmet. Circa 1935-1942. Happy hunting, Sub
Rockhoppennc,
I sent your pictures to a friend who collects these and here is what he had to say:
" The Iron Company is no longer in business but I saw some of their pieces in a display at Dale's Train Shop in Norfolk on Saturday. Looked just like this and the ones you sent me earlier. They were going for $30 a piece and the book said that was a good price. They were in a bit better shape than yours. Do not repaint them. Clean carefully. They are worth some dough."
For certain ONE FINE FIND!! At first I thought it may be WWI British with a .303 Vickers, but I think others have nailed it down to American and Browning. Regardless, it's surely worth searching that area very closely.
