I dug up this heavy piece at the farm property the other day. It was encrusted with years of dirt, rust, etc. At first I thought I had dug up a small cannon. NOT. Then I thought fire hose nozzle. NOT. Now I'm thinking possibly a part from a tractor?
Any idea what it is, and possibly the age?
Thanks,
MM

Not a definite ID, but it does look like a tapered spindle (lower axle). I had a 1950 Springfield trailer that had swinging axle/suspension that was slightly smaller but similar. Could also be from a tractor front axle.

Sure, I'll take it! Mine just broke, which is odd because its not as rusty as your's. They just don't make 'em like they used to. :D
