I found what looks like the end of a tranquilizer dart. Dug this in a park with used to have some caged deer and a bear. Anyone know what it is?

I also found this small ball. Doesn’t really look like a clay marble to me but I don’t know what it is.

I have no idea what a tranquilizing dart actually looks like. :icon_scratch:
But your 'clay marble' looks pretty small when compared to the diameter of the Merc.

Your marble also has a 'worn' look, possibly from being 'tumbled' in a stream.

How heavy is it squirrel? the corrosion looks like lead. Perhaps the ball sat in the back of the needle to operate the plunger when the dart hit the target?

Best wishes!

The ball is light and it’s nonmetallic. I didn’t find both of these in the same location so I they are not related.

I would think that is the nose piece from a tranquilizer dart. Would have been more to it.

It almost looks like an air stone for an aquarium.

could it be an old grease injection needle ?
seems a bit short though . the more I look I tend to agree on the dart theory.

Maybe the clay marble thing is a new style BB from a toy BB gun.
I hear the BB's are made of resin and are bio-degradable now. (After about a year.)

It is from a Tranquilizer dart. I have a gun and it uses different size darts. Someone must have cut the plastic back part off.

the stainless end of the point looks very short, shallow,
imo - I think calling it a dart is a stretch, the point would be much longer to penetrate from a distence

certainly not connected medically in any way, considering the corrosion at the head
the length of needle is very courious
