I bet more new people than I are a little hesitant to ask " what does that word mean?". Would you pros be willing to create a thread that lists common terms and gives their meaning? I, for one, would be very appreciative!

Ok......here's a question......I notice you guys call Modern dimes "Rosie's".....is this because of the rosey color they turn in the ground?

OK.. I will bite.. what the heck is a "fishy" seen these referred to I believe in Canadian videos
 
Back in the early 70s we called surface finds "insult finds" like an "insult dime" or "insult earring". Felt it was an insult to find things we didn't need a detector to find when we were hunting with machines that cost a week's pay. Still do call them that.

Hi Jeff, it's a very thin silver 5 cent piece from Canada called a "fish scale" or "fishy".
