Hey, I'm here to show off this gem~ an agate x petrified wood piece that I saw at a local shop and i had to snatch it as soon as I saw it.. there's a small window that shows what seems to be some sort of stem of a plant inside of it. I assume it to be extremely old and is a precious coincidence to have a plant thing preserved in a rock mixed with wood

Very pretty,

Note that 'Moss Agate' is not a true agate because it has no banding, and contains no petrified organic remains... moss or otherwise. The typically green, dendritic patterns are just filaments of iron and manganese oxides that happen to resemble moss. Moss agate is also generally volcanic in origin, which wouldn't contain fossil material.

By contrast, your specimen is a true agate, since I can see banding, but I wouldn't like to say if the patterns are organic or not without some really close examination... but my gut feel is 'not'.

I appreciate the clarification I love to know as much as possible, ill tell my local shop this cause they were told to be moss agate. Thanks for the reply I'm glad to know its true nature of an agate and not a moss- I do have a moss agate that is how you described very pretty stones all together
