The map would fit the area. I will need to get more pictures of this area at different angles to give everyone a better idea of everything. Dad and I will be going up there friday. I love having different perspectives from you guys and gals. Its like bringing a large group of people into the site. This is fun, Thanks to all. No ones idea will be ignored, they are all welcomed. Telling me the treasure is very close is a plus, if this is correct Minetres is on my Christmas list.

Old Dog, this is Rock Hopper2. I am Rock Hoppers Dad, His partner in crime. We will not move the rocks. We have seen several of the flat cut rocks, some are huge. We have always wondered what they ment. We have no idea, any help would be appreciated from anyone. Thanks Rock Hopper2

Large slabs were sometimes used to separate different sites.
My partner and I have a couple sites where it must have been perfect for camping and caching.
There are empty vault sized holes all along the site.
They are also used as cover stones to cover a cache hole.
Most of the time if they are on their side they make a great billboard for signs.
Many are natural and have to be ignored as such.

All very cool and interesting ...
But the Spanish didn't think that deeply.
Sorry to be the one to break the news Boys.

Not trying to make you guys mad at me,
I have said it before.
Stop making huge things out of small ones.
Don't imply things that aren't there.

Granted we don't know the guy who made these signs, but
I guarentee this thing is very simple.

Think like the Spaniard

Thanks for the reply Thom,

Here are a few more with no chalk.

These were taken almost twenty years ago and some of the rocks have been destroyed :(

I'm currently trying to locate and photograph them again.

I need some help with some markings please. The pointer rock is either a Queens poodle or a Kings lion (like a sphnx). It looks due south and has 4 slashes on the top of its head. It only looks like an animal from the west side.

A confirmation rock nearby is a turtle head with an eye if seen from the west. There is a rock flush with the ground near the turtle head that also has 4 slashes on it.

There is a possible confirmation rocks with dual rocks next to the turtle head.

Now approximately 400 varas south of the pointer poodle there is a bolder on a slope near a creek. It took several hours just to get the moss and grit off of it. It is the only bolder in the area. Since it is in a very public area there is grafitti on it. Does the carvings on it make sense for it being a part of the pointer rock's S/S?

Now I'll have to do another post.

Okey,
HereI have put a couple more scratches in the mix for you.
If you look they are there quite clearly.
Check out the shallow holes marked with circles as well as the M and the upside down A.
Also check ot the negative

You have what looks to be three maybe four of the plusses.
I don't know what to make of them without a look at the terrain and the rest of the marks.
I'm sure there are more, Just these few are not enough without corresponding marks to give a trail.

Clay,
These marks are pecked into the surface of the rock.
There is an age old coating of "varnish" that makes the stones dark.
The pecking is enough to go through the varnish, exposing the fresh rock underneath.

it could be done with a small stone ... or a chisel.
I am not able to get close and tell what the tool of choice is ...
But a new sign is nothing less than cool !!
No matter what it means.
