Im detecting at the soccer field, just killin time while my daughter has softball practice. i'm diggin my usual scrap iron, pulltabs, sodacaps, aluminum. (I dig every signal, im retired)
my friend comes walking up to ask if my lil boy wants to go for icecream, of course he does he's 5. she stops bout 10 from where i'm diggin, looks down and says, "hey look here". she bends down and picks up this (attached photo)
on the back is printed tiffany & co. it has 10 diamonds accross the front.
That's the luck i have had so far this year. i figured i would post this little story to cheer up anyone going through a dry spell.

I agree. There is no such day as a bad day detecting. the way I see it, you weren't at work. I would have snatched that ring and tossed it and then picked it up later with the detector...

This same deal more or less happened to my dad when he was coming towards "my area" and detected what he thought was a pop can and left it. I eventually got to it because I was digging everything and it turned out to be a thick 92.5% silver ring. I pretty much assumed it was mine since he was the one who left it, even though he was digging in my area.

Something I was thinking of doing could have helped you. If you use colored golf tees to mark your finds, and then just dig dig dig afterwards, you most likely would have found the ring well before your friend ever came by. Then all the targets are marked "yours" as well.

Anyhoo, luck will come your way for sure soon enough. I feel like you deserve it HH!

Kind of like how I have found more money just walking around than with my metal detector. I was doing some yard work one day and went to sweep the curb and there was a ten and 2 one dollar bills just laying on the curb. I also found a dollar walking down the alley one day and we always find pennies, a few dimes and sometimes even a quarter now and then when we go walking. I think I may pay for my metal detector faster that way than with the metal detector itself.
