I upgraded my auto GPS to a Garmin Nuvi 5000 which took me to the beach for some hunting early this morning. I drove slowly because I was caught up in the story being told from my GPS. Once there I bookmarked where I was in the story and hit the water with the Excal 1000 for some serious gold finding. After wading in waist deep, I was coming up with all kinds of reasons to quit and go back home.
I told myself after the fifth or sixth pull tab that my knees were hurting from all the walking. ( I have gout) All the tabs were deep and on the way back to shore in my own footsteps I hit a wedding band, 14 Kt. on the surface of the sand in less than knee deep water. I would have seen it eariler I thought and on waving the coil over it to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me I remembered the mellow low growl of real gold was different from a pull tab.
Should you pass up the pull tab sound when you learn it? HECK NO! Not all gold rings are the same conductivity and are made out of different metals which all change the way they sound. It is hard to explain in words.
So anyway I was out of the wet suit and back in the drivers seat listening to my book for about 15 minutes before I remembered I was going to go home....... My take, or Nut for the day as Max would say, was 45 cents and one gold ring and a smile as I drove home.
