I didn't know where to introduce myself, so I thought I would try here. I'm a rookie detectorist with 9 months under my belt (yes I do look pregnant) with my MXT. I am primarily a coinshooter, but I love anything with historical interest. I've been around on other boards, but just now getting around to putting in an appearance here.

I haven't been out since Tues. so I don't have any finds from today. These are my most recent from Sun/Mon. I was very close to giving up on a vacant lot that I had hunted many times over the past winter. I was driving by a couple weeks ago and noticed that the city had mowed the lot, so I had to give it another shot. I ended up in a corner of the lot Sunday that I hadn't covered thoroughly because of weeds. BINGO! Miss Large Cent from 1848. I was tuckered out by then and too excited to keep track of my coverage, so I decided to come back MON morning. five feet from Miss 1848 was Miss 1829. Fifteen feet away was Miss 1836. SOMEBODY PINCH ME!

Happy Huntin All
Kevin M.

Welcome to the forum, MXT. I think we talked in the chatroom.

That IS a great hunt when you dig up three large cents! :o :o

The heck with pinching you, I'm thinking of pushing you out of the way. ;D

Man what great finds you have there. Maybe someday it'll be my turn.

FANTASTIC! You're one lucky man! For some of us it took years to get just one!

Congratulations on your great finds. But just be careful letting everyone know you are using a MXT. We wouldn't want all them minelab users knowing about are great little secret. If everyone started using one, there would be no more coins for us to find. ;D ;D

Welcome to the forum Kevin.Congrats on those three lovely ladies!
The oxidation from the Large Cents in the moist ground will increase the detectable range considerably. So if you were hunting in dry ground conditions this could explain why they were missed at other times. You're doing a great job out there. I hope you can get the permission to hunt the adjacent lots. Best of luck to you and HH!

Thanks again folks. This place is HUGE. It'll take me 6 months just to cherry pick the info that's here now.

Lucky- Good point . I hadn't thought about it. I'll have to see if I can change my handle to BountyHunterKev or similar. ;D ;D ;D

Thanks again
Kevin
