Thanks bud, I've never been much of a fan of Garrett detectors. Hopefully your new tector works out good for you.

Never seen a nickle trifecta awesome !

That's nice!

I found 3 Jeff's stacked right on one another this Summer. One heck of a hit! And one was a war nickle.

You have to wonder what the story was behind that... Cool find, what kind of place was this?

Just out in the middle of the woods. -Jay

I agree with the previous post - a nickel trifecta is a bit unusual in the same day - but in the same hole - that's unheard of ! Argentium.

man oh man coinstriking finds some pretty cool stuff in those infamous woods of his something tells me he doesnt want to give up his secrets! Thats ok if i was him i wouldn't want to either! and if all his finds really do come from the woods he must have some great land to work with!

Great job! Nickles are a hard find for me. Either MD'rs pull frist or its a rare /hard find because of VDI. They look so much like a pull tab with Whites machines...

We just hunt in the woods around a campground that has had people on the land since missionaries were there in the 1600's and actually even before that when the Native Americans were on it. We've found a bunch of copper artifacts as well as coins. It's no secret though, I'll bring anyone there to try their luck.

Some machines are better than others with pull tabs. My Coinstrike is good on them. Nickels always register between a vdi of 9 to 11, where as pulltabs are typically in the 13-16 range.

nice finds Jay, keep them comeing.:icon_thumleft:

Thanks, I'll do my best.

Ace 250 can distinguish bottle caps

Congrats to you Coinstriking Michigan, on finding old coins, that is always a great feeling.

just fyi anyone with an interest in the ACE, my experience was that it could reliably differentiate bottlecaps from other items. It's been a while since I sold mine (I got a white's eagle spectrum, very similar to the XLT), but as i recall, when a bottlecap was under the coil, the indicator would bounce around in the coin to screwcap range; it would particularly change reads as you pulled the coil over and away from the spot (which happens with my whites also); if a pulltab or nickel or whatever was under the coil too it would bounce into the low reads as well. If the read stays on quarter or dime as you swing the coil in place, but changes as you move backward and forward, it's still a cap, probably a very rusty one, BUT...there could be a coin in there too, so I dig those. I may not be remembering all this stuff about the ACE exactly right anymore, but I am remembering exactly right that I used the ACE as my first machine, to dig about 50 silver coins in 8 months , and tons of clad, and i rarely ever dug a bottle cap once I figured out what was going on. Also, I'm not the only one to note this ACE behavior online, I've seen it in writing before in forums.

I'd say the ACE is probably one of the best machines for avoiding bottlecaps. imho, of course.

I wouldn't mind hunting them woods at all ;D I've made some nice finds in the woods, I found a V nickel just under the surface and 6 inches away down about 8 inches was a buffalo nickel, that was out on a preserve. Great nickel trio you got there

Come on up, I'll share the woods with ya :headbang:
