Trout Fishing 5/7

After finding a few artifacts this morning I decided to switch gears and hit the river for some trout fishing. The conditions were near perfect and they were feeding when I got there. I landed eight rainbows, largest was 18+", lost a good sized fish in the rapids. Even got a painted turtle to pop out and say cheese.

Yep that is about the size trout I catch. We go way up the mountains for our fishing. 2 hour drive, 30 min walk to river and another 45 min walk down the river to then start working our way back up stream to starting point by then it is about 3pm and the fish stop biting anyhow. Gawd I love trout too some gooooood eatin

Nice catch. All I catch up here. I don't think they're that great eatin, but it is fish. Hey frank1960, caddis fly hatch is goin on on the Arkansas. Lots of folks down there beatin the water with sticks.

You have some beatiful water there in Colorado, I wanted to stop and fish in every creek and river I saw when I was out there.

Thanks, I'm not a big fan of the extra fishy taste of trout either, I snapped a quick picture and released all these.

Bake them trout on a drip pan.... Yum... They taste great smoked too!

Great looking place to fish I bought a smoker for my caught trout, they can be a bit rich...but nice smoked

Thanks, the second fish is probably a 2 to 3 year old holdover McConaghy strain, that was planted. The other three are wild rainbow, the rounded nose, large eyes, and distinct markings and colorings is what separates them from typical stockers.
