Trying to locate the remains of two cats.

Either coyotes or hawks got them. Owner tried to keep them safe but it was beyond his authority to do so. One is an medium hair calico and the other is a short hair with white and black fur. Any help in the matter as to finding their remains would be highly appreciated as it would give their owner some solace to make for them some graves.

Would really appreciate any help so that we can put them to rest properly; please. And they would thank you from the other side as well. There's got to be something of them left somewhere. They we're my treasures. And I have nothing but pictures and video left. I want some bones or fur please.

Don't have the ability to examine the contents of coyote guts or spoor, or reconstitute road pizza. Please keep your domestic cats indoors. The outside world does not leave memorials, grave markers, or plaques for "natural" deaths. Condolences to the owner, but it's a jungle out there. Keep them indoors. Gates, fences, and vigilance is required.

If a cat is born outdoors to a feral mother cat, they rarely end up as house cats. I have two outdoor cats that had a feral mother. I managed to tame them, but they do not want to be indoors at all. They will come in for a few hours if it's really cold or snowing outside, but that's it. People who think all cats should be locked inside a home have never dealt with a former feral cat. They will never trust you completely and they will never be happy locked up in your home. Just the way it is...

We have five currently. Two born in our barn four years ago to a "feral" mother we noticed on site occasionally (at least domestic enough to know a good chicken coop/barn). Two more from a neighbor's horse barn two years ago (100% outdoor but fed by the woman), and one that found my wife near the school where she taught. He was about a year old, whole, and some dog or coyote had ripped him open around the waist. One kidney was outside the abdominal wall but under the skin. A vet fixed him up "pro bono" and he's now 10. They all stay indoors (with run as asked to our attached two car garage - where they find mice and snakes).

Merc and Sun: Sadly, the odds of finding even the smallest bit are quite slim/none.

It's hard to lose a special pet...this I understand, and sometimes it's difficult to let
them go when they leave us.

Just because you can't find your cat doesn't mean it's dead. This is especially true of tomcats. Males cats don't like competition, so they will take off to look for greener pastures. I once had a tomcat who stopped showing up, so I assumed the worst and forgot about him. Three years later, he showed up looking for something to eat. I fed him, he took a nap and then left. Never saw him again. Just the way it is with outdoor cats.

You do not own cats they own you. They are a lone predator. its in their nature. If you have one for a pet it will always be on their terms. A dog gives unconditional love of their owners as part of a pack and cat has conditions as a lone predator having a owner out of convenience.

Cats are required to have rabies and distemper shots, but that's not possible if they're feral. Dogs have stricter laws because they can do serious harm to a person. Cats can bite, but you don't hear about anyone being mauled to death by a cat! And dog owners ignore leash laws everywhere, so that law is pointless.

Putting a cat on a leash is like having a Toyota FJ and never letting it see dirt.

I'm cool with vaccinations or maybe even a license, but in truth a cat is not just a
fluffy indoor decoration.

Cats are hunters and explorers by their very nature, and while they're cute, fluffy and purr
when you give them love (which they give back), their instincts are to hunt for their food
and (especially for males) to rule the territory they designate for themselves. To me, leaving
a cat locked up inside a house is tantamount to child abuse.

I have two indoor/outdoor cats...they go out when they want to, and stay in when they want
to, and unless I see a present danger outside; I don't argue when they want out, but yes there
are dangers out there...bobcat, coyotes, and roaming dogs are always a concern, so I keep
those critters away from my yard as best I can.

When Fall is ending and the rain starts, the bugs are no longer out there to stalk/chase, they
both get a sad look, and look up at me as if to say..Dad..make the rain stop, and where did all
the bugs go?

This is Callie..she's crossed that rainbow bridge, but her name is still a feared legend among mice.

Sure, if you like changing a disgusting cat litter box every day. Or how about wrestling with them to get them into a carrier so you can take them to the vet? Then trying to shove a pill down their throat three times a day for a week to help them get better. Cats are a pain to take care of, but worth it some of the time!

Your claim of ferals is wrong for all cases. After my domestic cat died in 2017 I had lots of leftover cat food that I decided to feed the feral cats in the neighborhood with. One kind of took a shine to me as I named it and it would come to get fed. After not seeing the cat for awhile I began to think the worst, but eventually that particular cat came back except it had 2 kittens. It was getting very cold with winter setting in in January. I set up an old end table with a heating pad and an old towel for them to stay warm. This worked at night very well until one time when the mother and one of the other kittens didn't show up for awhile. One kitten returned and now there was competition for the food as racoons caught wind of the shelter and the food.
I know, long story.
Anyway, I lured the kitten from the porch where it had been for about a month and into the house by placing the food in the doorway and back further into the house every time it fed. This worked well and the cat eventually did not want to go back out into the cold. It took time for him to adjust to us and the items in the house, but he did. He 100% trusts us after about 4 years and wants no part of going outside excepting curiously looking to see where we occasionally go to and acting as if he wants to follow us. He'll be 9 years old this late summer.

Got four cats...all three girls like to use the indoor litter box, but it seems
it is far beneath Luci..he'll look at it..shake his head and then want out to do his
business. Only time I've ever seen him in the litter box was in the middle of a
torrential rain storm.
