Hi everyone, been a minute. Found this yesterday at a site where there was an old school house about 100 years ago as well as a homesite adjacent to that. Nothing visoble there now but an old well. This was my only notable find before I got run out of there by the ticks and a bunch of snakes that took off in the high grass parting a path as they scattered in several directions, luckily none my way. Anyway it appears to be a pewter knife handle. I've looked for a match online with no success. It's about 4" long. Thanks in advance...

Based on how thick it is, possibly a knife handle or from a dressing table mirror. :icon_scratch:
I've dug a lot of pewter cutlery pieces, but none that looked like that one.
My best guess would be a later piece c1830 - 60.

Is it a stylised Carp/Fish? Might point towards an Asian/Chinese connection?

More like a scrolling leaf design. Both sides the same. One side damaged. Here is the opening on the wider end and a close up of the design...
