Still have a few areas with snow laying around, but found one spot today where the ground was'nt
froze. Did'nt find any cash, but did find two old tags. One an old miners tag and the other was a
tag from Howard Brown Shoe Co. in St Louis, started in 1888. Could'nt find anything on the
Twinkies brand of shoe tho. Cash is nice, but I get satisfied if I find something that says something
on it.

I'm with you, may not be coins but who cares. I LOVE Twinkie! that is just too cute.

Hope you get out again soon.

Weren't Twinkies before Buster Brown was Buster Brown ?

I like your finds! I'm glad you where able to get out and hunt.

Very nice finds!! I think the "Twinkies" shoe tag is actually a watch fob.
The hole might have held a small watch. This tag was made before the
Buster Brown shoe was created. Buster Brown was a cartoon character,
and in 1904, Warren Brown met with the creator of the Buster Brown
character, and Buster Brown shoes were created. So this tag was no doubt
made between 1878 and 1904.
Sometimes those old fobs can be worth ALOT of money. It would be
worth digging into. The Brown Shoe company could possibly be interested
in it.

the only thing I know about twinkies is they are soft and sweet and much better cream filled.

Cool find the Twinkies is really neat!

From Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Neat-Old-Twinki...022252917QQihZ022QQcategoryZ843QQcmdZViewItem

"This auction is for a nice neat old unusual watch fob and compass advertising Twinkies shoes which were made by Hamilton Brown Shoe Co. It is in excellent condition, and looks like it has never been worn. It was made in Germany, and reads on the back, "always in the right direction with Twinkies", "happy shoes for busy feet", and Hamilton Brown Shoe Co. Really neat old item, please see pictures."

I'm partial to old coins myself, but finds like these are often way more interesting! Very cool! Too bad the compass is gone!

MON! I've missed your posts! That Twinkie fob is awesome! 8) And the miner's tag with the name on it is a plus too! That hunt should keep you happy for the next week or two! 8) What a way to start the year!

Fantastic! Congrats! Nana :)
