Sunday I had the pleasure of hunting at the 1830's CW house with Burdie (Stan) for about 4 hours. It was all we could take, as it was mid 90's and humid as all get-out. :sunny: He and his wife Vicki were passing through on their way to the NC mountains.
Burdie wasn't there more than 10 minutes and scored a nice old buckle piece. See his post from yesterday.

I found some pretty neat things including one button that made my day.
Long story short, Nick and I had a bet this year on who would get the first CW eagle button and the first Large Cent.
An eagle button was worth $5, and an LC was worth $10. Let's just say, the LC is still up for grabs.

Also pictured is a humorous bumper sticker idea I came up with that TN-Jorge put to vinyl for me. Thanks Jorge!

My finds for the day were:

*A CW Infantry Eagle button with a Scovill's backmark. Lots of beautiful gold gilt still on it. Yeah Baby!!!!
This was a very faint signal out in the middle of the field. I'm glad I decided to dig. ;D

*A Centennial (?) suspender clip with a flying Eagle and "1776 - 1876" on it.
I love this piece because it is dated. This has to be my best suspender clip so far.

*A decorative copper plate of some sort? I listed it in the "what is it section", with most guesses being a brooch.

*A token with only some of the lettering readable.
Ivan ID'd it yesterday in the "what is it" section as a vendor entertainment token. Thanks Ivan.

*Lead seal, possibly railroad related since the tracks was only 100 ft away. I can make out two of the three letters on one side as "RX", and the back has "H-55".

*A 1935 Buff Nickel and a 1926 Wheat penny.

*Other asst'd mystery metal.

Had a great time with Burdie.
Thanks for looking Folks,
MM

P.S. My brother says I say "uh" and "anyways" too much in my videos, so I'll have to work on that. ;D

Thanks Buddy.
I thought I had just dug another of those Eagle service buttons until I saw that "I" on the shield. I couldn't believe it.
Your turn now. Go get that elusive LC. Don't even think about spray painting a slice of pepperoni brown and trying to pass it off as a worn LC.
I don't know my LC's, but I do know my pepperoni. :tongue3: ;D
Good luck,
Lish

Thanks to the good folks here on TN, I've learned a LOT about these old relics. The suspender clips are one of my favorite things to find, because there are so many neat designs.
Happy hunting this week,
MM

Dude,
I told you guys there is still things to be found at that property.
Those two large oaks in the back field (by the old hog pen area) are being removed this week and the stumps are being ground up. There were so many signals in that area (a lot of trash ) that I'm going to see what pops up after the trees are gone.

Re: Two Eagles and a Burdie (no, not golf) - in honor of Nick P.

That video made me want to turn around and go back there to hunt just one more time. Congrats on your great finds. Your friendship means a lot to me. Say I got on line to see what some of my signals might of meant and I can tell you some of the good stuff is still deep. I just didn't at the time know what the signal meant. I have not used that machine much so far. Good luck and keep digging.
OH I went back and gave the owners their gift. It was raining and I could hardly drive away wanting to still hunt. :BangHead:

Re: Two Eagles and a Burdie (no, not golf) - in honor of Nick P.

Great finds for sure! My dream is to hunt a CW site.

I see you're swinging a Tesoro Silver uMax with the 8x9 spider coil. No wonder you found that button.

I spent a lot of time using the uMax with a 10x12 mono coil and that thing would pull small targets so deep I could hardly believe it. The thing I liked about the uMax is I never needed to guess about targets. If it was a good target I knew it right off.

Great finds and it's nice to see Burdie.
