Two Merc Day

I got permission to detect an older home that most likely wasn't detected before (I hoped)! I started in the back yard and didn't find a single coin or keeper.

On my first pass in the front yard, I get a reading that should be a quarter and this pops out...





They made their pennies big back then!

I kept working the front yard and I got a nickel reading...



Dateless but I'll always welcome a Buff back to the surface!

I approached a very large shade tree and got a deep dime reading...



Six feet away I got another deep dime reading and brought this beauty back from the depths...



Odd they are both 1942's but one is a "D" and the other a "P".

Love finding Mercs!

Then a deep penny reading and this guy surfaces...



Then I must have found the old sandbox location...

Those are 5 nice coins, but finding 4 nice Tootsie Toy cars in one yard is very nice !

Ever notice how many 42-45 merc dimes are found on this forum? During WW2, the gov't cranked out millions of them. Everyone was working during WW2, and everyone had money. Many things like gas were rationed so you had money but nothing much to spend it on. I'd bet there's still tons of mercs out there to be found. Gary
