We are working at a 1870 home this week, so
I showed up 1 hour early to get a quick hunt in.
Then I took an hour lunch and hunted again.

I got a total of $7.96 in clad.

229 coins (1 wheat 1958)
2 marble
copper compact case
junk
Axe head
2 unbroken canning jar lids

The axe head had me stumped. It was 10 inches
down and large. I just had to find out.

I can't seem to find any older coin. Must be doing something wrong. I used my white 6000 with a 9.5 coil, and my Tesoro silvermax with a 6 inch coil.
Any advice would be nice. Thanks!

Awesome finds.
Looks like you are doing the right thing to me!
I would flip out if I found 200 coins in one day.

holey cow...that is what you found on a quick hunt...I am so jeleous

wow what a clad fantastic hunt, only thing i can tell you is that maybe need to go slower and dig those signals that sound like a coin but not quite, it may be that there so deep they give off a so so signal, also my 1904 indian head had alot of rust etc on it, may read like below what it actually saying it is, i dug a quarter yesterday in some hard dirt 5 inches down, and it said it was a penny on my machine , good luck, later tg

Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow.

With all that out of the ground TY I'd say there's nothing left but "silver" ;) Congrat's on the 200+ day, don't think I could do that if I tried.Any word on the farm's yet?,sound like some producer's to me!!Congrat's again and HH.Talk to you later.....Joe

If you are wanting to try for older coins the best advice I could give would be to just slow down some. If you get a deep hit but aren't sure?....dig it.

Looks like you got all the clad out of the way now, should be nothing blocking the silver now.

WOW!! That's a lot of coins for such a short hunt!! I am hunting an older 1800's homesite as well and came away with a ball lid with glass still intact, as well as a small copper comact! Wierd....also a double sided axe head last week....Great digs!

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, if you can find that many coins, you would've found the silver.............but only if it's there to begin with. That a wheat came out is an indicator that it is. How many coin spills did you encounter?

Three coin spills yesterday. The largest being 20 coins.

How dry was the ground? There has to be some better stuff that's deeper. If it's quite dry, i would make it my first stop after a good soaker.
Good luck

Thats an unreal clad count for a couple of hours, I would say the rest of us are the ones that are not doing something right. Congrats and HH.

The rain was off and on that day, but the grass is high.
