Got out for about an hour or so this afternoon and hit two very deep silver in about 10 minutes. I started bringing the Lesche raptor with me to make it easier to scoop out dirt. Now I'm able to get down deep in a hurry after digging the plug. Don't know why I've never used it before? Had it sharpened up at work so I could hunt that area with all the colonial stuff (many roots)... worked great! Not that I found much there this weekend...

How's this for a worn Merc? Looks like a 40 something:

Got this neat Dick Tracey gun at another park last week:

And this little truck (which was really deep) yesterday

At the old park, of course, there's no shortage of shells. This is just one small handful. (I like dating them)

It's silver, and that's what counts.

Way to go!

The Mercury has unusual wear that leads me to believe that you might have a incorrect struck coin! This coin has unusual wear, so you must identify this first & foremost. If not NBD

Joe 2 silver on a short hunt is a great hunt WTG.

Nice hunt and that's alot of wear on a "newer" Merc!! I think its not any type of error, but might have been used for something or someone had alot of time on their hands and put some of that extra energy to work!!

Nice stuff and great pictures! That merc.....looks different than "worn"...???

What is the lesche raptor?

Here it is... it's got an 8" blade that goes from around 2" two a little over 3" at it's widest. I think the whole thing is about 14" long.

I agree that the merc is strangely worn. But tell us more about the "DICK" gun. that seems like a good find. ;D

It's from either the 40's or 50's from what I can find... One on Ebay for $10 (in just a bit better shape than mine :) ) As far as the worn Merc, I think that was just rubbed down on something. I have some vague memory of doing that as a kid myself. Definitely not normal wear and tear... Here's the "Dick" gun:
