Lars, I'd say the first one is a Hanna. The second, Duncan or Mckean.

Joel

I would say that they BOTH are BEAUTIFUL no matter what they are called :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:

quito, Thankyou I got the first and second one mixed up
I called the one one the left but I meant to say right
I have to agree that it looks more like a hanna than an oxbow, (but it does have a little oxbow look to it)
around the dakota's the ND and SD state historical society's have another style called Ducan-Hanna (were you aware of this?)

Airborne, hey you just posted a nice point
thanks a lot man!

No, I wasn't aware of that Lars, I'll have to check into that. Did you know there was another type of Hanna called Northern Hanna?

Joel

thanks you guys
I think we are on the right track
there is so much simularity between the 3 or 4 different types discussed that it can be difficult
when I get all of these pieces sorted I can post all of them and maybe we can figure it out a little better
I have a lot of points that are shped like that and am having a hard time ID'ing them
I appreciate it, thanks

Nice points ... the first one is particularly sweet and beautiful material!!!

That one on the left looks like petrified wood.
Nice!
Newt

thanks,
I find lots of petrified wood and agate points in my area
