Unidentified Anchor Brass piece

I found this years ago and have tried a few times to get an ID of what it is, and age and have come up empty, so hopefully some good input from fellow TNetters on this piece.

It is a small but heavy piece, most likely brass and is rather thick. It weighs 3.73 grams, is 17.7mm in length and 14.2mm in width with a thickness of 3.5mm.

It has been so long since I found it I do not remember what type of site it was found at, but would have to assume one of my very early 1790's-1840 sites which is the vast majority of my sites.

So, what is it, not a cufflink I don't think, not a button, more like a heavy duty type of clasp? :dontknow: Also, what era........
