🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Unidentified brass

This piece has a patent date of March 20, 1888 stamped into it. A friend thinks it has something to do with insulting wires on an old electric fence. Found in a now park, which used to be an 1880s-1940s farmstead. Could it be off an old telephone? Thanks in advance for your help.

I know it's not a Camaro shock mount.
Maybe it's part of a horse drawn wagon?

It looks sort of like a bicycle pedal end cap. @Red-Coat might be able to tell what it is by the patent date.

Pretty sure Mud Hut nailed it. It's a mounting bracket for an old roll-up window shade.
