I found this for a dollar. It seems to be hand painted, as the art is raised up and bumpy. It seems the china is roughly made because the dish isn't a perfect circle. I can see through it with the light well, does this mean its bone china? Does any body know the value? I would like to find the history on this piece but there's no markings :(

Thanks for taking a look!

David

That "Made in China" label on the bottom is a clue that the value may not be very high. I've seen similar pieces at thrift stores. It may be as old as the 1940s or even somewhat older. That's just a guess but I'm thinking it's pretty but not a treasure.

Give it a whirl on the bay. Pretty it is, so you may make a few $$$.

Thanks for your input. Are you saying in general that if there is a "made in china" stamped on the piece then more than likely its not worth that much? What about pieces with no markings also?

Not necessarily, but it's an indication of more modern manufacture. (Experts, correct me if I'm mistaken). I have seen enough similar pieces to know they're not uncommon, but that doesn't mean you can't get a few bucks for it. Just don't expect a fortune.

The fact that it is translucent means that it is porcelain. The value of your cup and saucer lies within the decoration on it as well as the wording you use if you list it. It is obviously a Chinese export , probably from the 70's. Prbably worth about $10 or so.
