I decided to take a random roadtrip this morning and started heading south from Norfolk, VA. I came to a small town called Whaleyville, NC. I started taking random county roads off the main road looking for old houses I could detect at. I ended up finding two, as you can see in the pictures. The first house had a large amount of metal in the yard and it was hard to detect in it without picking up other stuff (Does anybody know of a smaller coil you can get for the Prizm V?). The second house was not as dense with trash signals, but lots of large pieces of farm iron. I found the token, which is a little bit larger than a quarter, at the first house. On the obverse it reads: "Ulysses S. Grant" on the top with a bust of him and "1869 18th President of the United States 1877" on the bottom. On the reverse it reads:
ULYSSES S. GRANT
BORN APRIL 27, 1822
COMMANDER OF THE UNION
FORCES DURING THE CIVIL
WAR: FIRST PRESIDENT
WHOSE MEMOIRS BECAME
A BEST SELLER
DIED JULY 23, 1885
I tried to research it but can find nothing on it. Anybody have a clue about it?
The medal in the picture was found at the second house and I have no idea what it is, the back is smooth, no writing on it at all. It isn't a lightweight metal like aluminum or tin. I also found 4 wheats at the first house, 44,45,52-D, and 53. I know, not much to scoff at but I was excited
I also got a 1953-D wheatie in change when I was getting a drink at that town. The toy thing is quite large and reads "HUBLEY KIDDIE TOY NO 5 MADE IN U.S.A. LANCASTER, P.A." I tried to research that too but it is giving me a little race car thing...this looks like a toy trailer its like 4" wide and about 2.5" long.
Enjoy the pics
