Hi Folks,

Found this button at a mid to late 1800's cellar hole. The button seems to be of a later design though. It looks to be painted or enameled in black, and etched with what looks like an wading egret into it. I tried to find a similar type on the web but had no luck. Any idea on what the style is or date of this button? It's about 3/4 inches in diameter.

Thanks !

What metal is it? Does it attract a magnet? Breezie

Thanks to Iron Spike for the button ID :icon_thumright: Learned something new also. I'd never heard of "japanning" technique before.
