Unusual for Michigan

Found this 1942 10-Sen aluminum Japanese coin hunting in the woods by a creek near an old long gone schoolhouse. Anyone else have one in their collection?

Yep sure do. Although it is only because I was stationed in Okinawa!

No sir, but I think they are more common than you think. Many soldiers were stationed in Japan during the occupation and rebuilding of that country after the war. My dad was one of them and had a small handful of Japanese coins in his keepsakes.

I got one... 50 sen... silver! I found it in a WW2 veteran's yard, apparently a war trophy.

Yep, here is mine. Found smack dab in the middle of a hay field that was a CW Union camp in 1862. Blew my mind.

Cool find. I dug a bronze Japanese coin off a curb strip in my little village in northern Illinois. We most likely will never know the "how" of most of our recoveries. Makes the fantasizing about them all the more interesting.
