( UPDATE )!!! Antietam Breast Plate! (My 1st)! New Pics After Preservation.
Ok folks, here it goes. Got out with Civilman1 today. We started in a freshly disced field.Couple hrs of nothing. We decided to retreat to the woods for some shade and hunt. The spiderwebs were treacherous,Joe said he had enough to weave a blanket. we made it to the truck and were going down the fire lane and spotted an area that was not so overgrown and stopped.Again like always we were relentles in our search. 5 mins outta the truck I dug a three ringer. The got a good reading of 78 VDI it was a mason jar lid with porcelin insert.I thought to myself oh well it couldve been a plate.Another signal and the same result.I went back where i dug the three ringer and bou 5-7 yds away got another good 78 VDI. I dug and flipped the plug and thought hmm this jar lid doesnt have the threads? I picked it up and it was heavy. I turned it over and that beautiful eagle was staring at me! Holy Smokes I hollared Joe? I just dug a breast plate!!!, and sped over to show him. Its a very nice full plate without the hooks. Funny thing is the adrenaline rush was as extreme as "Buck Fever" lol. I have only cleaned with water and a soft toothbrush so far. Any suggestions are welcomed. Prolly cant see in the pics but appears to be soldiers initials scratched on the back.
Thanx for lookin, getty
