Here is my latest configuration for small gold.

48" with flare. Metal Lathe with openings of ~1/4" over minors moss over backed felt and a ribbed inspection area. Held in place with clamps. I also have two types of ribbed carpet I can use depending on material being ran and stream condtions. I will screen to 1/4" prior to running.

I'm going to field test it this week.

Wish me luck!!

Update - I got out and tested the sluice. I was running bank material without classifying just to see how it would move cobbles. I was pleased with the performance but not so pleased with the area that I was working. Sample pans didn't show anything to get excited about. I have yet to pan the concentrates so I will update again if I come up with some color. I included a video and some pics of the area I was working. The stream was full of fine sand and gravel 3-5 feet thick. After the snow pack melts a little more I might try the area again. I had a hard time regulating water flow due to the increase of flow through the stream as the day warmed up. Had fun!

Re: Sluice for Fine Gold - Test on Monday

Thanks! ;D

I'm going to an area that is new to me but has been hit hard in the past. The area is down stream from a designated wilderness area where no prospecting is allowed. With the spring runoff from the snow melt and the amount of rain we have had I'm hoping some gold has been moved from higher up.

I'll post a report with pics.

Update posted.

Okay, I decided I would get the concentrates panned out. I classified down to 20 mesh. Looks like I need to run it through the Bowl!!! ;D

I guess I need to slow down when I'm test panning :tard:

looks like it works good if you are catching fine gold larger gold should not be a problem. :icon_king:if it catches 99% of gold that would make your sluice worth $399-$499 according to some products. ::) :D l.m.a.o. sorry couldn't help the 399-499 comment.

That is a nice place and nice gold in the pan as well :)
