a buckle? it is awful small for that? only about the size of a quarter and very thin

P.S. I've seen that face represented as Pan, Greenman, and Bacchus. Maybe those names will help in your search.

I will have to email my buddy, it was his privy and he kept it for his display case, and he live 3 hours from me

First object looks like part of a lock on a diary or journal, something that is designed to keep a document personal? The other one is probably part of a buckle and ribbon or strap that went around the book, assuming they were found close together. Just a WAG. Monty

I agree with this...book strap.

Ribbon clasp half. Like a buckle for a ribbon that would have been worn around the neck. Worn tight usual.
