Spent 2.5 hours on my own today on the Upper Section. The Upper-Middle is not finished yet but I'll leave it for when Cru'dad and/or Shuan7 get back.

It was a nice day but the ground was very wet after the rain we had. Probably a lot of rain tomorrow as well.

2 Scrappies
Cut hammered short cross type :) 3rd hammered in 3 occasions
Medieval Lead Cloth Seal
17th century 'nipple' button

A good short hunt on an area of the field that has produced very little in the past.

no id as there is not enough letters or features to tell, but it keeps the hammered count up

See your doing well with the cut hammered coins, how do you rate the xp.

Its good, but I still have no clue what a hammered sounds like even though I have already dug 6 this year. It will definately increase our hammered count this year & can't wait to try it on a better field.

Good to see the cooler weather hasn't stopped the flow of coins and relics that you continue to find - love the hammered. A hammered coin is on my wish list of things to find for when I go detecting in Europe in April. ;D

Great mix of finds for your standards! I think that XP gets a little better depth than my ML XT70 with the 10.5" coil, my buddy has the XP, middle model with the 12" coil and seems to do better than me. HH, Mike

Its a solid silver coin mostly from the medieval period which has been hammered between two dies to make an impression on both sides at the same time.

We had rain here also on the 24th, the whole day. Nice finds, those tit buttons are my favorite. You are getting used to the XP now I see, and can tell the goodies from the baddies pretty good. These fields you had already searched with your other detector?

Not since the last plough & the upper sections hardly at all. ie. the plough would have bought stuff up & we had better ground to do than the upper sections.

Where are you going?

10 Day detecting tour in the Czech Republic. You're to blame of course - after seeing what you dig up week after week I couldn't stand it anymore and needed to scratch that itch to get something a bit older than what we can find in Australia ;D

Excellent, I look forward to your results. Excellent people & food is cheap, hardly anyone detects. Although I find it best not to get your hopes up or expect too much & then everythings a bonus.

The only thing I'm expecting is that while I'm out in the fields that my wife and three teenage daughters will be spending all of my money shopping in Prague. One of the detecting sites planned is the site of the Battle of Kolin 1757 - if I dig up a musket ball I'll be happy and as you say everything else is a bonus. Anything which dates pre-1821 will thrill me because thats as far back as I've got here in Oz. Anything pre-1788 takes me back before European settlement of Australia so I'd say the chances are reasonably good.
