US Box Plate - Beginner's Luck Edition

Been relic hunting for about 3 months now and loving it. Learned in January of the "Diggin in Virginia" event so I immediately jumped on it. Wow! The dirt in Culpeper is touch stuff. Found only 3 bullets yesterday and today was looking worse. I hadn't found anything but iron the first 5 hours today so I switch areas and hunted a swampy area. Not 10 minutes in and BOOM! I found a box plate. The PI machines definitely rule the soil here but I managed to do alright! I'm lovin' this hobby!

Re: US Box Plate - Beginner's Luck Edition

Congrats on an awesome find! I can't tell ya how many DIVs I've been to and have yet to dig a plate. Hopefully things will change later this week when I try out my GPX-5000 in the red dirt at DIV 21.

Re: US Box Plate - Beginner's Luck Edition

which machine were you driving when that popped? The Whites or Minelab?
Good looking "doo-dad" man

Was using the Minelab. Went out today (the last day of DIV XX) with a DD coil but didn't fair any better on in that soil. Spent most of the day in the woods where the VLF machines do better.

Congrats on a great find. Keep hunting the areas that no one else will go into like the swampy areas. I find stuff in odd areas too.
