couple days late posting this but i got out Friday morning for a short hunt, and the first couple hours were very slow, i came across nothing, after a short rest i started hunting a small high rise overlooking a swampy area, well i got a great sounding signal that was screamin at me so i knew the signal was fairly shallow, well i dig a plug and pop it out and staring back at me is big ol US that couldnt have been more than 3 inches below the surface, pulled it out and saw that it was a buckle with all hooks intact, but with one oddity there is a small iron buckle firmly attached to one of the hooks on the back, it makes me wonder if it could have been a CS field modification for a smaller belt, CS troops retreated through this area. Only other finds were a couple bullets and parts to a harmonica. Got home and proceeded to clean the buckle, all i did was toothpick the dirt and lightly brush with a soft bristle toothbrush and the buckle is amazing, nice light brown patina on this baby, im very happy with it, this made my month.

Wow, that a nice one.... congrats.

Very nice sir, very nice.

Great recovery you have there. Be interesting to figure out what the function of the extra little buckle on the back is.

Wow what a great recovery. The extra buckle makes it a special piece.

I agree! Super nice buckle, but the "addition" gives it some mystery and character. Nice!

I've seen these things on the banner at least half a dozen times, but if I nominate you I'll jinx it, great find, and continued luck....

Wow amazing....congrats

I'm thinking it was rigged up to be worn on a smaller belt??

Nice buckle with a neat little twist!

It doesn't get much better than that!! A beautiful find that just screams history!
