Just talked to Manza in Uvalde. He said they have had a lot of rain and the grass and brush has gotten pretty high.Just normal Texas looking land.He said we will park around his house(about an acre cleared) but that we will have to cover on foot what we want to hunt on the 30 acres. Will have to walk to the Cook's Slough area. The two acres on the Frio near Concan is about 5min from where we are staying and he has cleared it off.We can hunt it anytime we want.
He also said if anyone wants to pick up pieces of any of the hard cured mesquitte on the 30 acres to take home it is ok.We will hunt saturday from 9am until 4pm.Remember it will be getting dark earlier then. We'll decide after that if we want to hunt it sunday or go to the two acres. If we hunt there again sunday, then the two acres will be available for you to hunt anytime you have free time to do so during the week.Monday/tuesday/wednesday are pretty well scheduled out right now.

Sounds great, WSD!

I guess I'll have to do Gypsy's dance around the campfire for her.

I don't have my rooster alarm anymore. I miss it.....

Gettin down close to the wire now......the six pack has changed into a couple of cases now, this should be even more fun thanks to a lot of work from WSD and everybody in Uvalde. I agree WSD on us chipping in to get gifts for the people that have made this happen there. We did it last time and it was well worth it!!! Gettin excited now!!!! :hello2:

Steve ;D

That's OK Steve. Rub it in just a little bit more. Sure wish I was going to be there. Maybe next year. See you at Caldwell again.

Bob

Bob,
We'll see ya at Caldwell AND Uvalde next time. :icon_thumleft:

Just an observation and felt I should say this..... I know how hard it is to put on a hunt and I want to say WSD has done an out standing job on this hunt. Being so far away is just unbelievable that he has pulled this off. My hat that you made for me is off to you sir. Be safe and have fun everyone.

Burdie

....Well.....when it rains ....it pours.........Nothing was happening at least for me for months......I was really looking forward to the Uvalde Hunt....first my wife decides to bale out of it......then out of No where.........the search for the lost Battlefield of Medina resumes .....outside San Antonio......about a week or 2 weeks from your Hunt.....I work for a Major Hospital in the Houston area and I can only get off for one of those week-ends.......This will be my 3rd trip to find this lost battlefield.......so wish us good luck.......The organized group is trying to find the site before the 200th Anniversary...which will be August 18th, 2013.......take a lot of Pictures of the Uvalde Hunt....some will just have to be there in Spirit.....Good Luck to you too.......Joe

Sorry to hear you will not make it,Joe.Goodluck in the Medina search.I don't hold much stock in where they are searching, but, who knows?

JoeTx, sorry you and your wife won't be able to make this trip. I did see the "Hunt For Medina" post, I know it's not far from where we're at, too bad it was not scheduled at the same time frame, we may had a chance to hunt that site too...fitting it right into our schedule of events.

 RR

Joe...... tell them that Medina has been lost for a long time, it can wait. In fact, with me being in Kerrville, you can always hook up with me. Eh? But then again, maybe....maybe....I might find it first.....LOL

Am really going to miss meeting you. But, pls keep in touch!!!

..........Warsawdaddy......Where do you think that they should be searching!!??......All that I know is that the Main part of the battle took place where the heavy equipment such as wagons and cannons/artilley got mired/bogged down in the soft sand....I had a tour of the area back in April of this years and I saw literally at least 100's of acreas of very soft sand (it was probably an ancient Sea Bed).......for people not from the area .....this is an at least 200 miles from the Gulf Coast!!.....Also I saw two different State of Texas Markers that were at least 10 miles apart!!.....So far all that has been found is maybe a handful of Cannonballs and a few Musketballs.....according to some Civil War or Battleground experts...the site should contain at least 20,000 rounds of musketballs, cannonballs, etc.......I think that they should be hunting a lot closer to the Medina River..........Joe
