SHOOT, WSD, and here I was bringing my wedding ring so that I could sell it!!! Phooey! I wanted to get the best price, considering I won't need it anymore..........YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :headbang: :hello2: :hello:

Oh well.....maybe I can bury it and let one of you guys find it.......and then pay me for it....LOL

BTW, not this last weekend, but the weekend before..... I went to a gold panning and metal detecting thing in Llano, TX. Strange that I didn't see anything about this in advance on TNET...or else I missed it. Got to talk to a few gold panners, watched the MDers trying to find the prizes, but I didn't do any MDng myself. During the prize drawings, though, I did win a very nice uncut topaz.

Looks like the days are really counting down........the weather here has REALLY been cooling off at night....WOW

RR & WSD.....I haven't read all of the posts before asking this, but.....

Knowing how Texas is regarding cell phone reception.....(***sometimes smoke signals are needed... :headbang:), are there any details regarding cell phone reception and computer coverage?

Mel, I really don't know about the cell phone service, maybe one of the 6 pak will chime in and let you know. For as computer coverage, I do know there's not a plugin in the cabins...you have to use the one at the store.

 RR

Mel - We did have cell usage last year, however,we were more or less in the town area. This time we will be strictly 'country',so don't know.Neal's has wifi in the office for use.If you have wireless, you may be able to pick it up.I do know that last year Steve accused Baggins of putting out smoke signals all night long in their motel room.I may bring a gold pan to test the Nueces with.

Cyber - yeah,I don't understand the cake either.

Guess Dixie and I'll be leaving sometime on the 13th(9 days?)'bout time to think about what to pack up.I remember stuff every day but then promptly forget it.I'm one of those 'last minute' types.Everyone remember that most of Uvalde are staunch A&M alumni/fans.When I first moved out there they all asked me how I ever found that place.I told them I just went west 'til I smelled it and then south 'til I stepped in it.I use to tell them that if the Alamo had had a backdoor,Mexico City would be up where Dallas is.I really made a first impression.I didn't tell them that my oldest boy was born in Austin and that I also lived in Dallas and Amarillo. But they are great people out there.I really enjoyed my time there. One of my friends out there(he's passed now),a retired bank exec, asked me one day if I wanted to ride out to his ranch with him,he had a man coming to shoe the horses and he had to get them in.I had visions of riding out and driving them in.We drove up to the corral and barn and he got out and honked the horn twice and started getting feed into pans and in about 5min all these horses came trotting in from the 'range'.One by one they went to their pan and we closed the gate and left. Some roundup! One of the horses had a big 'US'on his rump.A beautiful animal. He said that was his son's horse from the Corp at A&M.

The six pack had no problem with cell phones but we were never more than a couple of miles from Uvalde, so who knows what to expect. If I had to guess, we would be very lucky to have any cell service out there. They don't put a lot of towers where there isn't many people and this would qualify as that. We'll see I guess.

Gettin real close now! Birthday cake and beer!??! Sounds like south Louisiana to me! :laughing7: Lol!!!

Steve ;D

Tee, hon are you talking mesquite as a mosquito (skeeter)? or as the wood? :laughing7:

We are being bombarded by the swamp skeeters (those things land stinger 1st) while the other skeeter lands and is sucking blood already before you feel it. The swamp skeeter is like a guinea wasp sting versus the paper wasp sting. :o

I noticed "haybudden2" on the blue section (confirmed listing). Hope you chime in here to let us know if you are interested in attending the hunt with us. Sent you a PM...we would love for you to join us! The more, the merrier.

 RR

LOL,,, Birthday boy wont be drinking.
