When I first dug this, at dusk way back in November, I thought it was a DEER HOOF lol. (We’ve got coyotes here in NNJ and we have found many ravaged deer parts on our property 😱). Anyhow, it’s pottery/ceramics and I cannot figure what it came from, nor the type of pottery, except the suggestion it might be from a popular root beer stein sold in the mid-20th c.) Ideas? I’m mainly trying to date this particular site...

It's most likely the spout of a teapot. I found a similar one in an early 20th century trash pit.

I would say it's early 19th century or earlier. It's the glazing lines that have me thinking it's that old.
