I went out today with my new Etrac. I don't know a thing about it yet having only had it two days but Mike 4-H helped me set up a couple of good programs (Thanks Mike)

Anyway, I don't know what this is but it measures 2 1/2 X 1 inches. My first keeper find!! YIPPIE!!! :hello2:

Hey Peachy, it looks to me like a very old brooch.

Nice!

I'm thinking it's too heavy and thick for a brooch. Plus that screw back resembles the backing on some hat badges and the like. Don't know what it is, I was just happy it wasn't junk :tongue3:

It is :laughing7:

Great find Peachy! I agree with Cru - possible Japanese influence (cherry blossoms surrounding the characters). If not it looks to be a religious piece. Looking forward to seeing it cleaned up.

Nice piece. Looks like the screw back would be similar to WW1 types or at least from that era. I can't imagine it being related to any war but the screw back would suggest it being from around that time period. In any case, Nice first find! jgas
